U.S. MILITARY OFFICIALS ARRIVE IN NIGERIA TO HELP IN SEARCH FOR KIDNAPPED GIRLS
U.S. military officials are arriving in Nigeria today to help in the search for hundreds of kidnapped schoolgirls.  Islamist militants who abducted nearly 300 girls have said they'll sell them as slaves.  The Americans working out of the U.S. Embassy will provide expertise in intelligence, investigations, and hostage negotiations.

V.A. PROBLEMS GET WORSE
And the VA scandal just gets worse. Now a Veterans Affairs scheduling clerk in San Antonio, Texas claims HIS boss also told him not to document weeks-long wait times for veterans seeking medical appointments.  His allegation on Thursday came as the Department of Veterans Affairs is facing similar accusations in Arizona and Colorado.

CORD CUTTING LEADS TO DROP IN CABLE SUBSCRIPTIONS
Here's what's contributing to the trend of cord-cutting: getting rid of cable and going exclusively to streaming TV shows and movies: A new survey finds most TV viewers watch only 9% of the channels they're paying for. 9 out of a hundred! OR less. And as the costs go up, it just FEELS like the value goes down. Last year for the first year, since pay TV started, they had a decline in new signups. 

FACEBOOK GIVES AWAY HALF HER FORTUNE FOR CHARITY
The chief operating officer of Facebook is giving away half of her billion-dollar fortune to charity.  Sheryl Sandberg is the world's first self-made woman tech billionaire.  She now joins a list of more than 100 billionaires who've decided to donate at least half of their net worth to charitable causes. 

NO SELFIES AT VANDERBILT GRADUATION TODAY
Vanderbilt University is asking seniors to not take selfies while on stage getting their diploma.  School officials aren't saying why they made the request.  About 29-hundred graduates are expected to attend today's Commencement.

NASHVILLE HOTEL OCCUPANCY TAX EXTENDED
A tax that helps fund and market tourist-friendly events in Nashville is being extended.  The Metro Council gave final approval this week to keep the 50-cent hotel occupancy tax for another six-years.... till 2020.

PRESIDENT OBAMA AT WALMART TODAY
President Obama is will be a "People of Walmart" today! Obama will be at a Walmart in the Silicon Valley community of Mountain View, California.  The White House says the President will give a speech about the importance of energy efficiency.  Obama chose Walmart because the world's biggest retailer has set a goal of using energy sources that are 100 percent renewable.

IS YOUR FAVORITE TV SHOW COMING BACK?
Is your favorite TV show on the cancelled list? This is the time of year the networks make the call. ABC says yes to "Scandal" and "Grey's Anatomy." The Michael J. Fox Show,"  "The X Factor," are both gone.  AMC's "The Walking Dead " is back for season 5 this October, CBS picked up "The Big Bang Theory" for three more seasons (Bazinga!) , "American Idol" has been renewed for season 14 next year, True Blood is coming back for another season on HBO, and online, Season 2 of the Netflix series "Orange is the New Black" won't even go up online till next month, but star Laura Prepon broke the news that, yes, there will be a season 3 next year.

TITANS SELECT TAYLOR LEWAN IN NFL DRAFT
Taylor Lewan is the newest member of the Tennessee Titans.  The team selected the Michigan tackle with the 11th pick in the NFL Draft last night.  Titans General Manager Ruston Webster says Lewan is "smart, tough and has a bit of a nasty streak."  Round two of the draft is today. 

ARGUMENTS LEAD TO EARLY DEATH
Having frequent arguments with a spouse or partner can raise the risk of dying in middle age.  Danish researchers found constant arguing can raise someone's mortality risk by two or three times the normal rate.  They say men and people who are unemployed are most likely to be affected. 

MOMS SAY MOTHERHOOD MOST FULFILLING ROLE
This says a lot about the role of motherhood in our lives. Most mothers in a new survey say being a parent is THE most rewarding aspect of their personal lives, even more fulfilling than their spousal role. They feel more needed as a mom, and like what they're doing really matters. It DOES. thank you moms. And happy mothers day to you if you're a mom of a furbaby or have adopted someone to mother. 

AMERICAN IDOL NAMES TOP THREE
"American Idol" has decided on its top three.  Jena, Caleb and Alex move on to the next round of the competition, next week's "Hometown Visits" episode  Wednesday night.  The show said goodbye to Jessica last night.

AMERICAN IDOL AUDITIONS COMING TO NASHVILLE
Fox has renewed "American Idol " for a 14th season. Auditions start online next Wednesday, or you can wait for the auditions to come to Nashville, at Municipal Auditorium on July 30th. This season of the singing competition wraps up May 21st.
