FIRST FULL DAY OF SPRING
Today is the first full day of spring! It's FINALLY here, after what seemed like a really long, cold winter.
We sometimes forget to look up and notice the trees blooming, the flowers coming up, and hearing the birds, because we assume we will always get another first day of spring. So stop for a minute, take your allergy meds, then breathe it in.
MISSING PLANE LATEST
Australia's prime minister says search and rescue experts are "throwing everything" at the search for a missing Malaysian airliner. Tony Abbott told reporters earlier today that, "If anything is down there, we will find it." For the second day, the international effort is focusing on a stretch of the southern Indian Ocean where Australian satellites spotted what might be wreckage from the Boeing 777.

Remember that IRS scam we told you about, probably close to a year ago, where crooks call someone, claim to be from the IRS, and tell the victim they must send money immediately or they'll be arrested or even deported?
Well here's why thieves do things like that. Because it works. The real IRS says so many people have fallen for this con that's become the biggest the IRS has ever seen. Thieves have gotten away with more than a million dollars. Just know the IRS will NEVER contact you that way and ask for cash. They will contact you by mail, and will never demand an immediate payment.
WOMAN FOUND STABBED TO DEATH IN PUTNAM COUNTY IS JOHNNY CASH'S GREAT NIECE
That woman found stabbed to death and stuffed in a box in Baxter, in Putnam County, has been identified as the great niece of the late Johnny Cash. The Putnam County Sheriff says it appears Courtney Cash, her boyfriend William Johnson and a male friend were out together, came home around 3 or 4 in the morning, got into a fight, and the friend stabbed them both. Johnson survived, and he grabbed the couple's small daughter from the house and fled. He's at Vandy, and the friend, Wayne Masciarella, who already had a long criminal arrest record, is back in jail. The Putnam County sheriff says it's probable that drugs and/or alcohol were involved, and calls it a senseless death.
QUICK-THINKING NEIGHBOR HELPS CATCH BURGLAR IN NASHVILLE NEIGHBORHOOD
An alert neighbor helped catch a burglar yesterday afternoon on Michigan Avenue in West Nashville. Someone called police around 10am, and reported seeing a guy -- NOT his neighbor -- breaking itno his neighbor's house. Cops caught 33-year-old Raymond Shyloski, as he was leaving the house. He'd been inside looking for prescription drugs to steal. Oh, he admitted it.
HEALTH: SLEEP DEPRIVATION LINKED TO ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE
Sleep deprivation is being linked to Alzheimer's disease. Researchers at Temple University School of Medicine say an 8 week study found sleep deprived mice ended up with memory loss and impaired learning ability.
GOVERNOR SIGNS WINE IN GROCERY STORES BILL INTO LAW
Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam has signed the bill into law that'll allow wine sales in Tennessee grocery stores. After voters in individual cities and counties across the state collect voters' signatures, get the issue on the ballot and vote on it. Then, by 2016, it may actually happen.

Those CSI shows with the super-advanced technology are not so far-fetched these days. Scientists say they're starting to be able to use DNA samples, and create 3-D facial reconstruction! To tell what someone looks like, in 3-D, from a little bit of dna left on a water glass, for example. AMAZING!
GM CEO TESTIFIES NEXT MONTH
General Motors CEO Mary Barra will testify before Congress next month about the automaker's recall of over one-point-six million vehicles. At issue are allegations that the company knew about ignition switch problems for years and may have been more focused on profit, than public safety. Ignition switch problems have caused 31 crashes and been linked to at least 12 deaths.

Security is being tightened at One World Trade Center after a New Jersey teenager apparently roamed the top of the Freedom Tower undetected for hours. Just slipped through a barricade, past a sleeping security guard, and started posting photos of his 'adventure.'
SENATOR ASKS TO KNOW WHAT 'ENHANCED INTERROGATIONS' ARE
A Colorado Senator is asking President Obama to declassify a report on the CIA's program in the war on terror. He wants the Senate Intelligence Committee's report on the agency's so-called "enhanced interrogations" made available to the public.
LATE CORY MONTEITH'S LAST MOVIE OUT TODAY
Cory Monteith is heading for the big screen one last time. The late "Glee" actor plays a young criminal in the crime thriller "McCanick," which opens in select theaters today. The 31 year old Monteith died last July from an overdose of alcohol and heroin.
WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH FOUNDER DIES
The Rev. Fred Phelps Sr., who founded a Kansas church widely known for its protests at military funerals and anti-gay sentiments, has died, according to his son Tim Phelps He was 84.
Members of the Westboro church, based in Topeka, frequently protest at funerals of soldiers with signs containing messages such as "Thank God for dead soldiers," and "Thank God for 9/11," claiming the deaths are God's punishment for American immorality and tolerance of homosexuality and abortion.
