WEEKEND TRAFFIC ADVISORY: SECTION OF I-440 TO CLOSE FOR 10 WEEKENDS
Don't forget this story! If you do, you may be in for a hassle instead of a smooth trip this weekend. TDOT is closing down a one-mile stretch of I-440 EAST, between I-24 and I-65, to do repair work on the road. It'll be closed Friday night to Monday morning for the next TEN weeks! That means you'll need to find a different route, starting tonight at 9, till Monday morning.
DANGEROUS HEAT WAVE HITS DESERT SOUTHWEST
Our friends and family in the desert Southwest are facing a dangerous heat wave today. Temperatures this weekend could hit 120 in southeast California and southern Arizona, and Pheonix could hit 118.
IMMIGRATION REFORM BILL PASSES SENATE
The immigration reform bill has passed in the Senate, and goes to the House today. The bipartisan measure provides a pathway to citizenship for more than eleven-million undocumented immigrants in the U.S., and pumps millions of dollars into stronger security measures on the U.S.-Mexican border.
FIREWORKS BAN LIFTED IN LEBANON
Lebanon, Tennessee has lifted it's nearly decade-old ban on fireworks, so people there can legally buy and shoot off fireworks inside the city limits this year. There are already more than a dozen fireworks stands open on the main roads leading into downtown, and sellers expect the buying rush to start this weekend.

TICK BITE CAUSES DEADLY ALLERGIC REACTION TO MEAT
If Lyme disease isn't reason enough to make sure you avoid ticks, this may do it: some bites are now triggering a potentially deadly MEAT allergy in people. It's called the alpha-gal allergy, and makes you allergic to any kind of mammal meat. And it can kick in MONTHS after you've been bitten.
HOW TO PREVENT TICK BITES
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says you should use repellents, check for ticks as soon as you come indoors, and shower or bathe immediately, and you may get them washed off before they have a chance to dig in.

QVC is the latest sponsor to drop Paula Deen. Now that makes Home Depot, Target, Walmart, the Food Network, Smithfield Foods, Caesars Entertainment, and QVC, all distancing themselves.

Meanwhile, Deen's "New Testament Cookbook" has surged to the top of the amazon.com book list, and its not even out until October. Another Deen book, "Paula Deen's Southern Cooking Bible," was at No. 13. Several other Deen books have sold so much they're out of stock.
LOCKDOWN AT NASHVILLE GENERAL HOSPITAL
A man accused of causing a lockdown at Nashville General Hospital is facing charges. Police say he claimed to have anthrax and threw a white powdery substance on the floor inside the emergency room. The area was locked down for about an hour before Hazmat crews determined the substance wasn't a danger to anyone.

AMP RAPID TRANSIT PLAN MAY IGNORE POOR NEIGHBORHOODS
State Representative Brenda Gilmore says she is worried that the city's new bus rapid transit plan -- called AMP -- is ignoring poor neighborhoods. Gilmore, along with a number of other groups, met with MTA officials on Thursday to discuss their concerns. "AMP" isn't a done deal, yet. Nashville has to beat out other cities for federal funding.

The History Channel is doing a casting call on Craigslist for someone who looks like Winston Churchill or Adolf Hitler! It's a series they're doing about the lives of the historical figures. They say if you can speak like that character, that's a plus, but not necessary. They're paying all transportation, accomodation and food, and 350 bucks a day. (Perhaps you can use some of that money to NOT LOOK LIKE HITLER! )
