SEVERE WEATHER BLOWS THROUGH
We were very fortunate today... those severe storms that blew through Middle Tennessee hit early enough that most people weren't stuck in them, in traffic, and so far we've had no reports of any tornado damage, though high winds did blow down trees, including several at the Smyrna Golf Course.

LOSE WEIGHT WITH SUNLIGHT
Here's a fun way to lose weight. Get some morning sunlight on a regular basis. That way when someone says, "Whatcha doing, standing out here, looking at the trees?" You can tell them, "I'm losing weight."
A new study finds that regardless of food intake, people who had at least half an hour of light exposure between 8am and noon were the most likely to have a low body mass index. They think the sunlight affects your internal body clock and kick-starts your metabolism. The finding suggests that putting in more windows in workplaces and schools, or letting workers take little morning breaks outside, could help fight the obesity epidemic.

NO MOTIVE YET IN STABBING DEATH OF BRENTWOOD, TENNESSEE FATHER
Brentwood police still don't know WHY 31 year old Daniel Cantrell allegedly stabbed his 65-year-old father to death Wednesday night. Cantrell's wife called police, when she came home and found her father-in-law covered in blood. Daniel was still there when police arrived.

NOLENSVILLE, TN. RUNAWAY MOTHER OUT ON BOND
The Nolensville mother arrested for child abuse after her 16-year-old son ran away from home is out on bond.  Susan Smithburg is accused of making her son do 15-hundred pushups after he burnt some toast, and police say that's what trigged Christopher Smithburg's runaway. Christopher, who was adopted from the Philippines several years ago, has been removed from the home, along with two other children, who had also been adopted. Police say at least one other child also shows signs of abuse.

The deadly shooting at Fort Hood Army Base in Texas may have started as an argument between soldiers, that just went way too far. Four people were killed, including the gunman, 16 others were wounded.

A guy is recovering this morning after being hit by a car near the Greyhound Bus station, at 5th and Lafayette, around 8 last night. Police say it looks like the guy was drunk and stumbled out into traffic. He was taken to Vandy in stable condition.

WOMAN DECORATES DOG DOO
If you've ever stepped in a little present that someone let their dog leave in your yard, or on the path, at the park, because the owner is too lazy to pick it up, you may be able to relate to the frustration a woman in Scotland felt. UNTIL she started having fun with it.
YES. I said fun. The woman says NOW when she sees a dog doo on the walking trail, she pulls out her CAN OF WHIPPED CREAM, and DECORATES IT! She covers it with whipped cream, and sometimes she even puts a little cherry on top. She says at least that way people SEE it and don't step in it, and maybe it'll draw more attention to the folks who are not following the cleanup after your pet rules.

HEALTH INSURANCE SIGNUPS LATEST
Analysts say the number of adults without health insurance fell last year.  The Urban Institute said the Affordable Care Act covered over five million of those adults.  The Institute also found states that expanded Medicaid saw an even bigger decline in the number of uninsured.

LETTERMAN RETIRES, NEXT YEAR. WHO'S BEING TALKED-ABOUT TO REPLACE HIM?
David Letterman says he's retiring from the CBS "Late Show." He made the announcement last night, and there's already speculation about who should take over that slot when he leaves next year. Some of the most popular names being tossed around include Craig Ferguson, and Conan O'Brien. Another idea that a lot of people really seem to like is, "None of the above."  They say they're ready for some new blood. Letterman is 66 later this month and has hosted for more than twenty years.

BURGLAR GETS STUCK IN AIR VENT
I love it when crooks catch themselves. A would-be burglar is recovering after trying to break into an Arby's restaurant in South Carolina earlier this week. 22 year old Laquain Guy got stuck in an air vent though, and since he was creeping around overnight trying to steal things, there was no one around to save him until, 10 hours later, when an employee heard a voice coming from the air vent, asking for help. He ended up with a broken arm and some other injuries, and as soon as he gets out of the hospital, he goes to jail.

MOST BIZARRE JOB INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
When you interview for a new job, you expect to be asked how you succeeded in your old job and the challenges you faced. But companies that need creativity, need to test it in some way. So prospective bosses are asking some wild questions, including: (according to Glassdoor.com)
. "If you were to get rid of one state in the U.S., which would it be and why?" --Asked at Forrester Research
. "A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here?" --Asked at Clark Construction Group
. "What song best describes your work ethic?" --Asked at Dell
. "Jeff Bezos walks into your office and says you can have a million dollars to launch your best entrepreneurial idea. What is it?" --Asked at Amazon
. "If we came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare for us?" --Asked at Trader Joe's
. "What's your favorite song? Perform it for us now." --Asked at LivingSocial
. "Have you ever stolen a pen from work?" --Asked at Jiffy Software
. "Pick two celebrities to be your parents." --Asked at Urban Outfitters
