TVA REMOVING TREES IN LAKE PARK
TVA has the chain saws out and they're cutting down trees in the Lake Park subdivision, and some residents there are upset. In the past, the people who live there say they were allowed to trim back the trees  but now the TVA says, they've gotta go if they're within 75-feet of transmission lines and if they could grow to more than 15-feet high. 

BACK-TO-SCHOOL CELEBRATION DELIVERS 2,000 BACKPACKS
More than two-thousand students now have the school supplies they need for the upcoming school year, thanks to Office Depot.  On Tuesday, the company's Back-to-School Celebration delivered backpacks filled with supplies to non-profit organizations, schools and agencies that have a hand in helping kids.  This is the first time Office Depot has selected Nashville as a recipient city.

STUDY: ONE IN EVERY 25 NEW YORKERS IS A MILLIONAIRE
Two stories about New York are in the news today. First, that more than 1 in 25 people in New York are millionaires. Partly because of the value of the homes there. The only other two cities in America that made the list are Houston and San Francisco.

NEXT STUDY SHOWS NEW YORK IS AMERICA'S UNHAPPIEST CITY
And the next study about New York finds it's the unhappiest city in America. Followed by Pittsburgh, Louisville, Milwaukee and Detroit.

THIS YEAR'S STATUS SYMBOL WEDDING DATE
And while summertime is a VERY popular time to get married, this year's status symbol wedding date will be this December. Couples are rushing to try and get it together in time to get married Dec. 13th, so their anniversary will be 12/13/14.

Now's the time to check your phone and make sure your contacts are listed WITH the area code, because we're getting a new, second, area code, and starting next year, you'll have to use a 10 digit number or the call won't go through. ROLF AND DAUGHTERS SUED FOR UNPAID WAGES
A popular Nashville restaurant is being sued for allegedly making an employee work off the clock. Adam Ortega, a former line cook at Rolf and Daughters in Germantown says he'd have to go in at noon to prep, but couldn't clock in till 2, and he's suing.

HALF OF US SAY LOTTERY WIN WOULD NOT MAKE US QUIT JOBS
WHAT would you do if you won the lottery? About half of people surveyed said they'd keep working their same job if they won, because they think they'd get bored without it. 

TLC GETS NEW TAGLINE: 'TENDER LOVING CARE'
For awhile now, it's been pretty clear that the programming TLC is kicking out is not in synch with its old handle, "The Learning Channel." Now, the cable network that gives us "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," "19 Kids and Counting," and "Buying Naked," says it's rebranding. TLC will stand for Tender Loving Care, and the new tagline will be "Everyone needs a little TLC."
 
EPA ACCIDENTALLY TWEETS LINK TO KIM KARDASHIAN'S MOBILE GAME 
So, ever wonder what government workers do on the job? Apparently some of them goof off sometimes, like most of us. Somebody at the Environmental Protection Agency accidentally sent out a tweet on the EPA twitter account that said, "I'm now a C-List celebrity in Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. Come join me and become famous too by playing on iPhone!"
The EPA followed up: "Whoops…our bad. Sorry about tweet." A spokeswoman says the woman who, "inadvertently triggered an auto-generated tweet.... regrets the errors and has been advised on the sensitivities of using social media." I think that means, "Don't play on the job."

METRO SCHOOLS BACK IN TWO WEEKS
It might be a good time to start getting ready to hit the brakes at those school zones you go through. Two weeks from today, Metro Schools are back from summer break.

RED CROSS FACES BLOOD SHORTAGE
If you can, sometime in the next few days, the American Red Cross says PLEASE give blood! They're facing a nationwide shortage, and say they could have an emergency situation on their hands if more people don't donate blood, and SOON.

GAS PRICES DOWN
At least the financial bleeding at the pump is a little less right now... gas prices have gone down a few cents since the Fourth of July, and so far are still falling.

HIGH FAT DIET CAN HURT YOUR SENSE OF SMELL
Here's some info to remind yourself when you're enjoying the smell of something you love: rain, flowers, a lovely candle. Researchers say if you eat a high fat diet, it can cut your sense of smell by 50 percent!

WOMAN SKIPS SENTENCING FOR FORGERY, BY FORGING DOCTOR'S NOTE 
A woman in Maryland is in double trouble today. She was supposed to be sentenced on July 11th, for forgery. But she didn't show up for court. She sent in a doctors note. Turns out she forged it. Didn't take long for prosecutors to catch on.  She now has another sentencing hearing for next month, and new charges.

DUANE THE ROCK JOHNSON SAYS HERCULES BEARD IS YAK HAIR
Duane "The Rock" Johnson has been making the tv interview rounds to promote his new movie "Hercules." He dropped a little bombshell on Kelly and MIchael yesterday about the BEARD that he wears in the movie. He said his makeup guy told him it was Yak hair. And not just ANY Yak hair. He claims it came from yak testicles.
(I'll bet even the Yak said, "That's disgusting!")

June was the earth's hottest month since we've been keeping records -134 years- according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

TWO ARRESTED IN NASHVILLE FOR HAVING METH SHIPPED TO THEM
Two people have been arrested in Nashville for picking up more than five-pounds of meth, shipped from California through FedEx. Narcotics agents caught the package when it got here, and just waited to see who came to pick it up.

MAN RECORDS GAS PUMP IN GREENHILLS OVERCHARGING HIM
A Nashville man says a gas pump at the Shell in Green Hills was overcharging him, and he caught it on video on his cellphone. Joshua Sizemore says after he stopped pumping the price kept climbing, adding another eight cents onto the balance. He showed the clerk, who deducted the amount from the bill, but the store's been ordered to get the fuel pump fixed.

METH LAB ARREST IN WILLIAMSON CO.  Eight people have been arrested for running a meth lab in Williamson County. The meth lab was found on Cool Springs road, south of 840.

WOMAN CITED IN MURFREESBORO AFTER DOG FOUND IN HOT CAR
This is the time of year it's perfectly okay to look into every single car you pass in the parking lot. Someone just saved the life of a little pet by being observant in the parking lot of the Murfreesboro Walmart. Police say Shirley Bowling went into the store to shop and left her 3-year-old Chihuahua in the car for at least 30 minutes (with the temperature at 94 degrees). A witness saw the pet and rescued it, and called police.
