This flea and tick season is the worst. And the mosquitos are no picnic either!

I have two dogs sleeping on my bed. A 85 pound lab and a 12 pound Chinese Crested powder puff. One black and one white. The good news (if you can call it that) is that the ticks show up on the white fur much more easily than on the black fur, but the white fur dog (Bebe) has LONG fur, so those little buggers can HIDE in there. Our black dog (Zoe) gets ticks on her black fur all the time, but they are easier to see, so we can just grab them.

Now the WORST thing is when you find a tick on your pillowcase, or on the sheets! Arrrgh! That sucks! We have been giving both dogs Frontline every three weeks, as recommended by our Vet, but I've been doing a little research on OTHER ways to keep the ticks off the dogs and out of the house!

Here you go:

This first one is agreed upon by most people.

Skin So Soft that is exclusively from Avon works wonders.....Apply to dogs 2 times per week right after bath, good for skin and fur too...kills ticks almost immediately

8 oz apple cider vinegar
4 oz warm water
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda

Mix dry ingredients first then slowly add to wet as the vinegar and baking soda will react slightly. Be careful not to get in pets eyes.

Squeeze an ample amount of sunscreen on your hand and mix it with 10 drops of eucalyptus oil before applying it on your skin. Ticks hate the smell of eucalyptus oil, which makes it a potent repellent against them
