The Salvation Army and the Roots of the Angel Tree

Every year you see the Salvation Army on every corner, ringing bells and collecting change.  But their Red Kettle program is only one of many that are offered not only around the holidays, but year round.  Col. Charles White and Amy Sky from the Salvation Army's Nashville Area Command talk about the organization's recent emphasis on disaster relief,  their transitional housing and adult education programs to provide shelter to Nashville's homeless and set them on the right track with GED programs and job placement.  You'll also hear about the birth of the popular Angel Tree program, and find out how the items you drop off for the Army's thrift stores are helping to fight addiction and feed recovery for those in adult rehabilitation.  To learn more, visit online at, or to volunteer, call 615-242-0411.
