It's Okay to Enjoy Your Memorial Day
WHAT DOES MEMORIAL DAY MEAN TO YOU?
Although we know that Memorial Day is a day to remember the men and women who’ve died while serving our country, it’s also a rare day off for us so, to be honest, many of us are more excited that it’s a chance to hang out with friends, sleep in, catch up on yard work or get to a shoreline somewhere.
I don’t think you should feel guilty about doing that.
That’s what those men and women died for: your freedom. You have the freedom to either go to a cemetery to put flowers on someone’s grave, or to fire up the grill.
But, that said, when you lie down tonight and you’re being thankful for the blessings you have in your life, please remember the military members who’ve died, and the families they’ve left behind.
When you have your cookout, ask a blessing for every family who has a folded flag and a photo in their home, instead of a loved one at the table.
And let’s be thankful that, just by pure grace, we were born here, where we’re free, and where we can make as much of our lives as we choose to.
Thank you, also, to the police, firefighters, EMTs and first responders who are here on OUR front line, keeping us safe, and sometimes giving their lives for our safety, as well.
God bless you. May you have a safe, peaceful, love-filled weekend.

For those who've lost a loved one, military member or not. This song is a pure blessing.
