Safe Haven provides shelter and transitional services that empower Middle Tennessee homeless families with children to achieve lasting self-sufficiency. Safe Haven is the result of two nonpfrofits wanting to serve the homeless families of Nashville more efficiently. Separately, the shelters existed as Safe Haven Shelter and Nashville Family Shelter. In the fall of 2003, the decision was made to merge the  two, and to serve 5 homeless families at a time. In addition to the shelter, there are 6 transitional homes, allowing Safe Haven to serve 11 families throughout Nashville. The two organizations have provided service to homeless families for the last twenty years. The merger brought together a team of professionals to serve the families more efficiently.
