BIG WEATHER CHANGES IN NEXT 24 HOURS
Just so you can't say you weren't ready, although we had temperatures in the 70s this weekend, we have a freeze watch and a wind advisory in effect for Middle Tennessee, with overnight lows around 37 tonight and lows at or near freezing tomorrow night. That means early gardeners will be pulling the sheets off the bed and throwing them on the azaleas. Today, rain, wind and thunderstorms, maybe some flooding.

HIT AND RUN DEATH
A 13-year-old was killed and his mother was injured in a hit-and-run collision yesterday afternoon on I-24 in Smyrna. The suspected driver, identified as 33-year-old Tina L. Wilson, kept driving after hitting the family's vehicle while they were changing a tire. Wilson was found in Davidson County and taken into custody. She faces charges of leaving the scene of a fatal crash and failure to report a fatal crash, probably more later.

TITAN PRE-SEASON SCHEDULE
The Titans announced their preseason schedule yesterday. It opens at home agaisnst Green Bay the weekend of Aug. 7th. Then they hit the road for back-to-back games against the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons. The Titans' final preseason game will be at home against the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday, Aug. 28.

MISSING PLANE
A navy ship helping in the search for the missing Malaysian jetliner has detected two more signals in addition to the two they heard Saturday. All the signals were within 17-miles of each other. Time is running out since the plane's black boxes only have a battery life of about a month.

LONG LOST LETTER FROM MOM
They don't call it "snail mail" for nothing. A Brooklyn woman, Susan Heifetz, has received a birthday card that was sent by her mother in 1969.

B'BALL
The University of Connecticut is the men's NCAA basketball champion. UConn knocked down the Kentucky Wildcats, 60-54 in last night's title game. It's NCAA women's final tonight downtown at Bridgestone Arena with UConn facing off against Notre Dame.

MINOR TN QUAKE
A 3.1 magnitude earthquake was reported in Northwest Tennessee yesterday morning. According to the USGS Earthquake Hazards Program, the quake happened at 1:24 a.m. The epicenter was a few miles from Dyersburg.

MISSING PLANE PINGER

Searchers in the Indian Ocean have picked up their "most promising" lead yet trying to find Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. A pinger locator in the Indian Ocean has detected signals that sound like those sent by a flight data recorder.

SEVERE WEATHER BLOWS THROUGH
We were very fortunate today... those severe storms that blew through Middle Tennessee hit early enough that most people weren't stuck in them, in traffic, and so far we've had no reports of any tornado damage, though high winds did blow down trees, including several at the Smyrna Golf Course.

MOTHER OF BOY MISSING FOR FIVE DAYS ARRESTED
Many of us don't think about this, but,  good thing that child advocates do: they tell us that often when kids run away, especially if they have a history of it, they're running FROM something bad at home. It's looking like that's what was going on with that Nolensville boy who was just found after five days missing. Susan Smithburg, his mother,  has been arrested on child abuse charges.

GOVERNOR BILL HASLAM DROPS RAISES FOR TEACHERS
Gov. Bill Haslam’s plan to give teachers a pay raise will be put on hold for at least a year. The Governor says teachers and other state workers will have to wait, because we just don't have it in the budget, yet.
