CALIFORNIA FIRES
The weather is finally getting on the side of firefighters in Southern California's San Diego County.  Temperatures are falling and the winds are dying down, but fire crews are facing a new enemy in the so-called "Firenadoes".  Those are giant funnels of flames that look like tornadoes.  The fires have destroyed at least 25 homes so far and claimed one life.
Cops say two people are in custody for allegedly starting one of the brush fires burning in northern San Diego County.

RAINY DAY MEANS MORE CRASHES
This is a weather day where you want to give yourself extra time for any trip you need to make. We have rain in the forecast, with some severe storms possible this afternoon and tonight, and there will be crashes to get around. Better to leave a few minutes early, instead of getting in a hurry.
Keep in mind, if you're running late and trying to speed on a day like today, that if you crash, you'll certainly be more than 5 or 10 minutes late.

SOME PEOPLE FORGOTTEN ON MOTHER'S DAY
Although you couldn't watch anything or listen to anything without hearing about Mother's Day this weekend, today might be a good day to reach out to people you may know who may feel like they were left out. Not everyone has a mother who's still living, and not everyone has become a mother. Some have furbabies instead, and more and more these days there are children with drug-addicted mothers, kids who are taken away from their parents because of abuse or neglect, parents and kids who are estranged, or kids being raised by other family members.

THE BIG PAYBACK
https://thebigpayback.org
We tend to feel generous at the holidays and drop some change into kettles, or buy some toys, but those non-profits that come to our rescue when the flood comes, the tornado hits, our electric bills get too high or we need shelter for women and homes for kids, are spending that cash all year long to make those things happen.
That's why the Community Foundation is spearheading a push today called The Big Payback, where you can go to www.thebigpayback.org and

TEENAGER CAUGHT BEFORE SCHOOL ATTACK
Police think the arrest of a Minnesota teenager may have averted a tragedy. According to authorities in Waseca, Minnesota, John David LaDue, 17, was going to kill his family, start a diversionary fire, set off bombs at an area school, kill the resource officer there and then shoot students.
But because of watchful eyes, he is now behind bars.
"This case is a classic example of citizens doing the right thing and calling the police when things seem out of place.
